Sexual Orientation and Custody
In Wisconsin whether a person is lesbian or gay is not a specific criteria for determination of custody and placement of a minor child. However, it is fair to say that the issue of a parent's sexual orientation may become a focus of the custody/support decision. It is recognized that a parent's sexual orientation alone does not necessarily affect the best interests of the children which is the broad-based criteria for custody/placement decisions.
