Elder Abuse
Elder abuse may include the four categories listed below:
1. Abuse, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, treatment without consent, unreasonable confinement or restraints;
2. Financial exploitation, including obtaining money or property by deceit, enticement, force or compulsion;
3. Neglect, including failure of a caregiver to secure or maintain adequate care; and,
4. Self neglect, which is the failure of the older person to adequately care for himself or herself.
Wisconsin has a voluntary elder abuse reporting system. Each of Wisconsin's counties has an elder adult at risk agency that provides a helpline.
